Our Story

Bikini Soft is the result of our quest to make shaving a more enjoyable and efficient experience. Having worked in consumer products for more than 20 years (including in women’s hair removal), our CEO and Founder Bob Spetner invented the Bikini Soft shave line to resolve his own shaving struggles.

 

“I was frustrated. I had been shaving my head and face daily for 10 years, and just wanted to be able to get a close, irritation free shave that didn’t dry out my skin. I also felt that I should be able to shave while in the shower, in under 5 minutes. I started experimenting — I knew there had to be a better way.”

Over the next 3 years, he tested almost every men’s and women’s razor available along with virtually all pre-shave creams, lotions, gels and oils he could get his hands on. Along this journey, he consulted estheticians, dermatologists and barbers on particular skin care challenges associated with shaving.

 

It quickly became clear that properly prepping skin before shaving was the most critical component to a smooth, clean, irritation free shave. Razor lubricating strips growing in size and popularity was one proof point, and more compelling evidence was found at the barber shop, where barbers apply a pre-shave oil to a man’s beard prior to shaving him with a straight razor. Armed with anecdotal evidence and a hunch, our founder decided to focus on developing an all natural shaving oil. He was elated when he found the magic formula and immediately knew that it should be shared with women.
